THE PASSAGE · WORLD ENGLISH BIBLE
John 14:25–27
25“I have said these things to you while still living with you.
26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
27Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

Before you move on
Jesus speaks these words during his farewell conversation with the disciples. The coming Helper will teach them and remind them of Jesus’ words; his promise of peace therefore stands alongside the question of life without his visible presence. Read the words about remembrance and peace together. Which saying of Jesus would you like to keep when change frightens you? You can write it down without already having a solution.
Read the passage again if you want to. Notice which word, action, or question stays with you. You can finish a reading without having finished thinking about it.
A MOMENT TO REFLECT
What does Jesus connect with the peace he gives here? Which of his words would you like to carry through a coming change?
