Read the guideIf you are learning how to study the Bible, choose a short passage, read it in context, notice what it actually says, consider its meaning, and make a thoughtful response. You can begin with a Bible, a few minutes, and a place to write. A commentary or study app can help later; it does not need to take the place of your first reading.
A LITTLE DIRECTION
Choose a starting point for the question you have today. Each route begins with something you can try now, then offers a few readings to take it further.
Choose one scene from Mark and read it twice. On the first reading, follow what happens. On the second, notice a question, a response, or a detail that surprises you. Write that observation before opening an explanation. Your first session can end with a question worth returning to.
Choose your next passage before closing today’s reading. Leave a short note about where you stopped and what you want to look for next. On a crowded day, return to the same paragraph. A familiar starting point removes a decision and lets a few available minutes become useful.
Write what you are carrying in your own words. Read a complete psalm or Gospel encounter and distinguish what it says from what you bring to it. A reflection can hold a request, a difficult feeling, and a next question together. You do not need a polished conclusion to keep reading.
